REPLAY: Transitioning From Overwhelm to Realizing Your Potential

Summary:

Lane begins with a grounding practice and introduces the topic of overwhelm distraction. They outline three steps to combat it: getting your mind game right, doing the thing, and now you got it. The first step focuses on curiosity and play, including identifying childhood curiosities and creating an arena of mastery with vocation, play, and growth categories. The second step involves setting five-year outcomes in various aspects of life such as family relationships, home base, health, spirituality/philosophy, courage/risk-taking, creativity/innovation etc., using Tiago Forte's CODE method for capturing ideas.

Lane also discusses a process called the Second Brain, which involves capturing and organizing ideas to be used advantageously in the future. The process includes synthesizing seemingly opposite ideas, practicing gratitude as a skill, categorizing projects to prioritize actions, and tapping into flow by embracing mastery, passion, purpose, autonomy and curiosity. The goal is to become more present with what you're doing and harmonize different aspects of your life for greater success. Finally, embodiment is important as it allows for a mind-body connection that can be used as an advantage in achieving holistic success.

The Body Keeps a Score is a book that explains how traumas and experiences are held in the body. Overwhelm, anxiety, and distraction are wired into our bodies through our nervous system. Nurturing your parasympathetic nervous system can help calm you down. Practicing self-care and allowing yourself to recharge can organically lead you towards your potential. Tap into the intelligence of your body by asking yourself questions about what feels right for you. Establishing daily feedback loops will allow you to recognize patterns and make progress towards your goals without having to think about it consciously. The goal is to embody structure so that it becomes second nature, allowing you to dance with life harmoniously.

Lane shares a structure with columns that allows for balance between organization, structure, and flow in life. He shares advice on navigating roadblocks by using the mind, subconscious mind, and body. Lane also discusses their Self Mastery Operating System as a tool for personal growth and accountability.

All right, here we go. All right, so I want to begin with just a grounding practice, actually. So if you're listening or watching this, and if you have the opportunity to get you're in a safe place to close your eyes and just kind of focus on your breath for just a few moments, then go ahead and do so. I'm working with a couple of guys. They have a podcast called Men Talking Mindfulness, and part of their practice in the podcast is they start each podcast episode with a mindfulness practice and then end it with a mindfulness practice. So I've actually adopted that for most of my calls that are kind of like this. If you're in a good place to close your eyes, go ahead and do so and just focus on your breath for just a moment.

And just as you're focusing on your breath, just think about any energy that you don't need or any thoughts, any anxiety or overwhelm frustration. Just kind of bundle that up. And as you're ready to take a big inhale in, just gather all that stuff up, breathe in, and hold at the top for just a moment and release. We're going to do this one more time, and when you exhale, try to make it a long, slow breath out. Again. We're just going to breathe in to gather any thoughts or anything that we don't need for the next hour or so. Just breathe in deep, hold it at the top, and release. Whenever you're ready, you can just open your eyes again and just be present with what's going on today.

So I always like to ground into the moment, and I definitely need it because I'm a little nervous for sure. So today we're going to talk about overwhelm distraction and some strategies and frameworks and things that you can implement into your life to make all of that overwhelm, all those things that are happening in your life to be less relevant because you're moving forward on your trajectory. So today we're going to be guided by three steps. And these three steps, I'm going to outline some techniques, some tactical stuff. So if you don't have a pen already in paper or something to write with or take ability to take notes, go ahead and grab that real quick. But all of these things are going to be here for you.

And the intention for today is for me and all of us to tap into the moment and for me to share any vocabulary, any stories, any examples, any frameworks. It's going to spark something within you. And so for me, I look at myself as not teaching anything, but activating something within yourself so that way that you can remember, that way that you can move forward with your own journey empowered. So if anything in here is like, oh, that doesn't feel like it's not for me, cool. That means it's not for you. And if there's something that you're just like, oh man, there's something about that. Write it down. If there's a concept, it's like, oh man. What that is dopamine getting sparked within yourself. And that's telling you something about your body is guiding you in a certain way.

We're going to be talking about that here in a minute. So the three steps are step one is get your mind game right? Step two is do the thing. And step three is now you got it. So each one of these has a different kind of vibe, different kind of essence and stuff. So we're going to start with step one, which is get your mind game right? And the first thing we're going to talk about is curiosity and play. And when we're talking about curiosity and play, one of the things if you would like to write down is looking back at the top three to five things.

Whenever you were a child, when you're a kid that you were curious about, that you allowed yourself to just get in a complete state of flow, that you lost track of time and you just were just so engrossed in the thing that joy and play and fun were just the thing that you were doing. The reason this is the first thing that we're going to talk about because it's one of the most important, because one, this curiosity and play and excitement is your natural state of being. And over time all of us have been programmed, we've been taught to think a certain way. And for many people on this call you might already know this, but for those that don't, the first about seven years of our life, we're in a theta brainwave state.

And what that means is that we're in very open state and we're receiving all of these different energies, words, vocabulary, we're sensing the environment around us. And all of that is telling us what our life, what our existence is looking and feeling like. And over time we establish that this is who we are, this is our personality. And if we grew up in the first seven years and had difficult, challenging circumstances or if we had really dramatic experiences that energized us, whether it was really good or really bad, if we want to label it, then that's going to be an indicator of the patterns that we're going to cyclically experience as we move forward. So why is this stuff important? Is that for some reason, whatever difficulty, whatever challenge that you're navigating through is likely tied to that?

So there's a lot of people that talk about this in depth, and I'm not going to go too much in depth, but Bruce Lipton is definitely somebody that if you wanted to look up this topic, it definitely is really insightful. So curiosity and play when you were a kid, those moments like for me, riding a bike, exploration, basketball, and those different things for different reasons, I was attracted to that or I was focused on those kinds of things. And the point of asking these questions or prompting is to not have answer, maybe in this very moment and maybe tomorrow, something pops up. But the intention here is to prime your subconscious mind, to allow it to emerge an insight for yourself. And so the subconscious mind works differently than the conscious mind. Conscious mind is pinpointed it's, focused it's here.

And we can use that aspect of ourselves to bring forth a very specific idea and recall it. Now, the subconscious mind is more of like this stew, this ocean that has the immense power, that has this immense information. And when we set the intention to guide and prime the subconscious mind, to bring forth certain ideas or answers or insights, it emerges whenever you're not looking. And if you read my newsletter, one of the examples is like, if you're playing a game of poker and you're so focused on the hand that you have, you're just like, focused on it. You're looking at it, and it's not going to change. But then as soon as you look away, you focus on something else. The subconscious mind just slips an idea, slips a new card in there. And that's how the subconscious works a lot of times.

So as I'm priming or asking these questions, the point isn't to have answer immediately, but to intend to reveal the answer as we move forward. So childlike wonder, childlike stuff, that's one of the things that we're talking about. The next thing for curiosity and play is a concept I call arena of Mastery. And so essentially, it is three different areas in which you can intentionally guide your path. And this is actually a North Star. So what this means is these three different areas that you're going to specifically pick and allow, again, your subconscious mind, the default mode network to do its magic. So these three different areas are one vocation, two play, three growth. And in each one of these areas, you can pick like four or five, right? So as an example, vocation.

And the idea here is to prime yourself, to allow your vocation, your work, and what you're curious about and what excites you and what you're playful about and growth to all be intertwined these different domains to complement each other. And so the point right now here is to have four or five different ones. So if we're looking at vocation, look at skills that you already are really good at. So if you're an engineer and you already have that engineer mindset, that could be one of these topics. And it could be that you dive into a little bit more specificity, or you could have a different area of or remix that kind of engineer as an example and allow it to help you on your Vocation path, right?

Another thing is if you're skilled in a couple of other different areas that will support your current vocation or a vocation or your work that you're stepping into. These are things that you can begin to cultivate and the point isn't to think about what you're going to be doing with it now the point is to have divergent thinking. Right now this is open mind and to allow whatever comes in. So the next category is play. So this is again tapping back into what you're curious about right now or that you have intrigued about and you're allowing yourself to get crystal clear. And the reason why we're picking this with specificity is to decide that, yes, I want to have this kind of thing in my life. Like for me, one of them is improvisation. Another thing for me is storytelling.

Another thing for me is joke telling, right? So that has nothing to do with my vocation, but I'm curious about it. And so as we move forward, we'll talk about how these intertwine. So the second category is all about play, what you're curious about, what excites you, and pick four or five of those. And then the third one is growth. And so these are three or four or five different areas in which you want to begin to grow or expand or learn about. And this also can be your spiritual practice, it could be philosophy, whatever it is for you, this area in which you have a mechanism for growth, you have a mechanism for expansion and it's going to look different for everybody.

So again, the point of beginning to write these down is to ask yourself, it's almost as if you're saying, okay, I got these 15 slots of topics that I just want to be surrounded by in my life. And yeah, some of them are going to be really easy to integrate. Some of them are going to be much difficult, much more difficult because I'm much further away or I don't have as much experience. But still there's something about it that really just drives me. And as you move forward, you may replace some and you may upgrade or you may say like this one right here is actually more resonating. But the point is to start with this.

Iterative mindset and iteration means pretty much go with the best that you got right now and be able to just decide, okay, this is what I'm going to do, this is what I'm going to try. And then as you try it, as we're going to talk about a little bit later through that experience, you're going to be able to confirm or deny that, yes, this is actually something that I want to do. So that's curiosity and play arena of mastery. The next thing I want to talk about is trajectory. So the arena of Mastery is essentially this curiosity driven north star. Now this next North Star is very precise and we're going to talk about five year outcomes. And so if you got a pen or something to write with handy.

I'm going to talk about a couple of different or several different categories in which you have the opportunity to begin to set outcomes for yourself from a five year trajectory standpoint. Why five years? Ten years is really far, one year isn't as far and it seems to be a really good sweet spot to have big enough goals that are five years out that you have something really big. And however big the thing is, it's most likely achievable in five years. And even if you decided to put it at ten years, five years is still absolutely achievable and we talk about anything less than that. We'll talk about that here in a second. So let's talk about just the different categories. So Family and Relationships is the first category. Second category is home and home base. The third category is body and health.

The next category is Spirituality and Intuition and you can replace that with philosophy if you like. Courage and Risk Taking is the next category. The next category is creativity and innovation. The next category is business and life's work. The next category is receiving and cash flow. The next category is investing and wealth. Custodianship the final category is travel and recreation. So the point of these different categories isn't if you want to copy them verbatim, cool. If you want to change the words because you feel like some of these words don't resonate with you, that's cool too. But essentially we're looking at the well roundedness of these goals.

And so if we look into the future and we start to definitively decide, like, these are some goals, these are some outcomes that I am actively pursuing or actively attracting, actively creating, actively moving towards, then with that clarity, again, we're priming the subconscious mind to allow ourselves to allow the subconscious mind to be an ally in our life. So instead of allowing the overwhelm and the worry or even distractions to guide us off our path, the specificity is allowing ourselves to remind ourselves of where we're heading. Now one of the things that when I'm thinking about this is that if we start to develop these very specific five year outcomes it's like, okay, now we're feeling more like really robotic, really mechanical and that's not really the case. We can look at it like that.

But the whole idea here is that we start to definitively decide the kind of life and the kind of lifestyle that we want and as we move forward we're able to receive the answers that we need and things might adjust. So so none of this is set in stone but whenever you do decide, allow it to be decided and crystallize it so that way that you can confirm or deny the feeling of like, oh yeah, this feels good, this feels right. So those are the different areas, right? Okay, we're talking about mind here. So this is all like, mental kind of stuff. We're getting the best answer from our mind and allowing the mind to be in its fullness, both the conscious and the subconscious, to be an ally in our life. Next thing we'll talk about is a second brain.

So, Tiago Forte, there's a book called Building a Second Brain, and it's a really great read. It's really supported me and it's really helped me a lot because it's allowed me to follow very simple process to declutter my mind. And in his book, he talks about this acronym called code. And it stands for capture, organize, Distill, and express. And so when we're thinking about who we are, we're a collection of perspectives based on sensory inputs of information that sounds kind of mechanical, but we walk around in our life and we receive information all the time. We receive music, we receive encouraging words, we receive conversations, we receive subliminal messaging from commercials, all stories, all this kind of stuff. So we're consistently receiving information.

And through our process, the more that we bundle it up or the more that we get confused or don't allow all those ideas or all those things that we're receiving to be organized, then we can get that mental clutter. And I'm speaking from experience, especially when I was in these moments of my life where I just had all these ideas and all this kind of stuff, like, what do I do with it? So this second brain allowed me to essentially it's kind of like you put all of these ideas into like a note app. There's different types of software notion. Obsidian roam research. You can use Evernote, you can use notes on your phone, all that kind of stuff.

So essentially, you've probably heard about strategies to, at the end of the day, whatever ideas or whatever things that are going on in your mind, you just write them down and you get them out of your mind, and then you can do something with it. But the idea with the Second Brain is that we actually have a system to where we receive insights and ideas and we capture them, and then we move on to the next phase, which is organize. And so the whole idea behind Organize is that you're able to set your future self up to use this information advantageously. And so if you have an idea about your business or have an idea about XYZ or this or that, you capture it, and then you can organize it, and then later on you can distill it.

And so what that means is essentially you're getting to the essence of the core idea of this. And there's a lot of different ways to do this, and I break this down in the self mastery operating system, but the next thing is express, right? And so as we're moving forward in life, we're all expressing in our own ways, some people express in music, some people express in building things. Some people express in business, some people express in amplifying other people's messages, whatever it may be like, we're all expressing. And through this intentional system, this mechanism, we're able to be a very clean vessel for whatever it is that we came here to do, whatever we're doing, whatever projects that we're working on, whatever businesses that we're working on, the more that we could be a clean vessel.

And we allow this Second Brain to be used as an advantage. We allow our biological brain to do its job even better, right? And that's to be present, and that's to receive ideas and to come up with ideas and execute on stuff. All right? So Second Brain is all about clearing your mind, and that's why it's part of step one. One thing I would like to plant a seed real quick is part of this process that I've remixed is essentially a synthesizing process. And so I can't explain it fully in this master class, but if you're watching this and if you're interested in it more, you can hit me up later. But essentially an idea to be able to synthesize.

If we're going back to the arena of mastery, we're taking those 15 or however many different areas or topics or categories from the three different topics or areas, and we start to remix. We start to develop this synthesizing web, right? As an example, we can pick six different things. So we could pick two from the vocation, two from the Play and Curiosity, and then two from the growth. And so now we can draw like, little dots, and I'll just actually draw something real quick. So if you can see this, you have these little dots. And so each one of these represents a different topic. And then what we're going to do is we're just going to draw lines from one dot to the next.

And literally, as you're drawing the dot line from the dot to the dot, literally, you're going to start coming up with ideas of how these two seemingly opposite ideas are connected. And so as you're drawing that dot, you're like, oh, that's interesting. That's an interesting idea. It's an interesting way to synthesize. It's an interesting way to connect. And so things that aren't normally connected. So, like, as an example, one of your Play or Curiosity topics mixed in with your vocation or a skill set that you have in your business or your work, you're able to draw some kind of comparison or draw some kind of way in which they can support each other or they can complement each other. And so the whole idea is to just kind of go for about 15 minutes, just go from dot to dot, drawing these lines.

And as you're drawing these lines, have a separate sheet of paper and start to just write the notes or write the ideas or write how these things are connected. And again, the spark of the idea may not necessarily be the answer, but it may be the thing that emerged the easiest from your subconscious mind into your conscious mind, whatever idea that was easiest to basically bubble up to the surface. Now you have something to work with and now you can contemplate on it. You can have conversations, you can talk about it with your friends, you can journal about it, you can go for a walk and explore why did that topic come up. And so essentially, you're allowing yourself to draw these connections and now your entire life is becoming more harmonized.

And so these areas in your life to where you're like, oh man, it would be awesome to do this X-Y-Z and incorporate it into my business. Now you can start actually coming up with ideas. And so the whole point of right now is to just start to develop great ideas and then just allow the cream of the crop to just surface to the top. And as you move forward, as we go into the next step, we're going to start to gather these different things and be able to take action with it. So the last part that I want to talk about with step one is gratitude. So a lot of people talk about gratitude, and it's a great practice, but I want to share a journey of gratitude that you can go on, right?

And so essentially there's three different steps that you can go towards gratitude. And the first one is practicing gratitude as a skill. And so essentially this is you able to your ability to be grateful for things in the moment and learning that as a skill. And the more that you learn it as a skill, it becomes more of a habit, right? And as you do it more and more it goes on to the next stage, which is personality trait. So essentially instead of you practicing being grateful and having gratitude as a skill set, it becomes actually a part of you a personality trait. It becomes who you are, essentially, right? And so as you're moving through this process, literally neural pathways are solidifying in your brain and you're rewiring yourself to be a grateful person. And that's really good stuff too, right?

But then as you move forward, you're actually moving on to the most powerful aspect of this gratitude journey, which is gratitude actually becomes a filtering mechanism for your reality. And what I mean by that is that you're actually starting to look for things that you're grateful for. And that thing that you're looking for to be grateful for, shapes your life. And your inner world of gratitude becomes externalized on what you see into the world. And so there's a lot more to it but wanted to paint that picture or to kind of add that to your awareness that gratitude is great. But whenever you're thinking about it in these three different distinct steps, ask yourself, like, where do you think you're at?

And how could being a grateful person and allowing that to be a filter for your reality significantly shift how you view your job, view your work, view your business, view all these other things in life? So that's the first step. So get your mind right. Yeah. So that's the first thing. Second step is do the thing. And so this is more we're talking about action here. So as we solidify our mind and start to allow our mind to be decluttered and let go of distraction and get focused on what really excites us and what drives us, think about like this. There's a lot of wisdom in jocko Wilick and David Goggin's message about like, go hard, do the thing 100%.

But there's also a way to harmonize that with being incredibly intentional, about being aiming that intense action towards what you're curious about, what excites you. And so as we're moving into taking action, we're going to develop a project mindset. And essentially a lot of us already do this to a certain extent, but I just want to kind of bring awareness to essentially we're chunking or putting things in buckets. And when we do that, we're allowing our biology to work with us. And so a lot of times when we look at to do lists and checklists and all that kind of stuff, I got to do these things. But when we think about things as a project, it allows our, again, subconscious mind to create a container. And a lot of this is we're allowing our subconscious mind to again be an ally.

And so when we put things into projects or into buckets, we're literally creating a container. So that way our subconscious mind has something to drop in there, something to fill it in. And when were talking about all these different things that we're excited about, curious about what are our strengths, what are our skill sets. And now we're starting to bundle them up into a project or two or three. And so this is where categorization and allowing projects to be aligned and drive towards your five year outcomes. So the projects are a mechanism for you to get to your five year outcomes. And the whole point of it is to not have this robotic, I got to have this long term plan, and I got to chunk it down into medium sized plans and then to bite size plans and actions and stuff.

That is absolutely true because we want alignment, but because were so intentional about what we did in the beginning, is what we're curious about, what excites us, what we're good at, those kinds of things. And we're harmonizing it with the fullness of our life and allowing the different areas of the different goals to work together and to ensure that if I'm working really hard on my business or something like that or a really intense project, I'm not sacrificing relationships. I'm not sacrificing my joy and well being. Yes, there's a dance in life and yes, there's chapters and there's moments where you got to hit the grindstone and do all that kind of stuff. So as we start to categorize, we're able to then have something meaningful to prioritize our actions.

And so especially when I was talking to a lot of different people, they were talking about how they wished people, or wished they could know what to prioritize. They wished they knew what to do, in what order. Whenever you start to put all of these projects and all these buckets into meaningful containers, and then you start looking at, okay, where am I heading and who am I today? The right bucket, the right project, the right thing that you need to be doing begins to crystallize. And so when you take a really good look at the things that you really want to do, or things that are good ideas, but maybe it's a good idea to do it in two months, maybe it's a good idea to do it five months from now or just sometime in the future, but not quite now.

You can archive this project. You can archive these actions or these things and put them on the back burner and literally not have to think about it. And so that way you're freeing yourself of this mental bandwidth and then you're also directing even more focus and attention from your subconscious mind to the priority projects. And as you move forward, you'll know what that means. You'll get better at it and you'll know exactly, okay, this feels right? And so the last thing here in the do the thing step is to take action. And so literally, again, we're going to embrace that iterative mindset of iterating, of taking today's step that I need to take. And yes, it may be a long journey.

I don't know what tomorrow is going to look like, I don't know what next week is going to look like, but I know exactly what I need to do today. I'm allowing myself to spark into flow. I'm able to tap into the moment. I'm able to start doing the thing. And when we're talking about taking action and doing the thing again, when we go back to what excites us and what we're curious about is it really hard to dive into something that you're really curious about. Do you need a lot of discipline? Do you need to force yourself to do the thing that just scratches your itch, or that you're like, oh man, I just love doing this thing. Or like, man, I don't know why I'm so excited about this.

Yes, you're going to have to schedule and you have to put things in the calendar, but it's not going to be hard for like when you get into the moment. Let's just say right now it's 340 mountain time for this whole hour. I'm here. Present. And whatever happened before this, my preparation or what I was thinking about, all that stuff was good. But now I'm here in the moment, now I'm tapped in. I'm in flow, and I'm able to allow the texture of the present moment to bring all the ideas that I need to. So when we're talking about tapping into flow, there's five main elements. So there's mastery, there's passion, there's purpose, there is autonomy, and then there's curiosity. And so these different aspects all are pointing towards creating flow. And it's beyond the topic of this master class.

But essentially those different areas, you're wanting to embrace the holistic aspect of those and to ensure that whatever aspect that you aren't expressing or aren't doing, that's the area that could be holding you back. There's a lot of science behind each one of those and actually, the neurochemistry behind. As an example, passion and curiosity is slightly different than purpose, right? Just as an example, whenever you're thinking about curiosity and excitement, those things are very personality and single minded, selfish thinking in a way. Not in a bad sense, but just like you're just thinking about you. But when you're thinking about purpose, you're thinking about altruism, you're thinking about things outside of yourself, more of the world at large versus just you, right? And so whenever you as an example, just these two different aspects, we start to mix them together.

We get this beautiful cocktail, norepinephrine dopamine and other neurochemicals, and we create this cocktail to where we're not just thinking about ourselves, but we're actually thinking about ourselves and other people. And then whenever you add autonomy and mastery, all those things, they have different chemistry in our brain and it supports us to get into these states of flow. So I don't want to get too off of the weeds on that. As you move forward, you're following that curiosity. You're tapping into flow and you're making significant progress because you're present with what you're doing. And whenever you're present, you're thinking less and you're not worrying as much. And whatever ideas that aren't advantageous to you anymore, you're able to then just allow it to drop. You allow it to let it go.

Because whenever you're excited about something, you're not worried about what you should be, quote, worried about. You're just in the moment, curious, present, doing the thing, right? So step two is do the thing. Okay? Now step three. Now this is important. Now you got it. And this is all about embodiment. And so as we're taking action, we are allowing our mind body connection to be used as our advantage. We become more holistic in our life. And there's a lot of science behind there's. A good book called The Body Keeps a Score and essentially it's talking about these different traumas, these different experiences are actually held within the body. And there's a lot of beautiful science behind that. But if you're interested, read that book. It's really powerful.

But essentially what I'm talking about is that when we're thinking about overwhelm, when we're thinking about anxiety, when we're thinking about being distracted, all of that is literally wired into our bodies. And a lot of it can be in the brain, these neural pathways of thoughts and behaviors. But we're also talking about the nervous system. And one of the biggest ways that you can tap into calming yourself is nurturing your nervous system. Now, essentially, there's two aspects of the nervous system. There's the sympathetic nervous system, and then there's a parasympathetic nervous system. All you really need to know, if you're not familiar with this stuff, is parasympathetic nervous system helps you calm. And the sympathetic nervous system is a fight, flight, or freeze.

And so whenever we're on social media, whenever we're looking at TikTok or videos or things that are just, like, highly changing and highly rapid, that oftentimes puts us into a state, into the sympathetic nervous system state. And it's making us feel a little bit tense because of the nature of our biology, it hasn't caught up yet because technology has progressed so rapidly that whenever there was some kind of danger or some kind of animal or something like that, thousands of years ago, we would get tents. And then essentially, all of our body's resources move to the extremities, and they move away from digestion, they move away from all of these nourishing or healing mechanisms in the body. So that way that you can fight with your arms, you can run with your legs, right?

And if we live in that consistent state, we're living in a chronic state of stress. And so whenever we're tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system, literally, when we started this master class, we breathed in, and then we held it at the top for just a few seconds. And then whenever we breathed out, were literally activating the parasympathetic nervous system. And the more that you practice, the more that you can actually feel. It almost as if it's like stress is melting. And literally what's happening is that your vagus nerve is connected to part of the parasympathetic nervous system. And as you're breathing in, you're actually cradling the diaphragm, which sends signals to the brain to rest, to recharge. It's a signal that everything is safe. Because whenever you're in a state of mind where you're worried or something, you're signaling fear.

You're signaling, hey, I need to move, or something like that. So when you take a deep breath, literally, the conditions are like, okay, I can feel safe now. And so over time, you're calming your nervous system, and you're allowing yourself to be in a more relaxed state. So the overwhelm, the distractedness are all held within the body. And so as we're taking action in step two, based on what we're curious about and what we are excited about, and consistently leveling up the skill sets that we're moving towards, we're able to then overwrite the overwhelm and rewrite or reprogram ourselves. To be more calm, to be more stable, to be more at peace, to allow curiosity and joy to be a more resonating, more easy as our default. And so literally, our body is being reprogrammed as we're moving forward.

And there's a lot of science behind this. So the embodiment piece is what allows us to move forward on our journey without having to think about it. So if we think that we have to continuously strategize life and that we have to continuously mentally know what the next step is or how things are going to unfold for you, we're living in that mental state of mind and we're not able to fully relax into our bodies. So the more that we practice, not only practicing self care and nurturing our nervous system and allowing ourselves to recharge, we're able to practice those and organically reach our potential. We're able to calmly move forward in our life and allow it to just be this organic, unfolding path. And of course, when I say it sounds like, oh, it's beautiful but it definitely doesn't always go like that.

But it goes a lot like that, more and more. And I promise you, I'm deep in the work, I'm not where I want to be. I'm here, I'm in the process, I'm doing the thing and I almost got it right. But the point is to practice and move and do these things right. And so to go back to step two, as we're progressing in these different projects, as we're progressing in what we're doing, we feel caught up. We feel like things are going smoothly and we're not trying to play catch up and we're not trying to do all this stuff, is that we just feel in a more greater state of ease. So I only got a couple more things to share.

So we're at the 50 minutes mark, by the way, if you have any questions and you're thinking about asking them yeah, you can start to think about what questions that you might ask and we can get to it here in just a couple of minutes. So as we move forward with these projects and actions and when we're establishing the mind body connection, we're allowing our experience and our body to indicate or confirm what feels right. And if you look back into your life and you just think about something that just like, man, that just felt right, that just felt like it was the right thing to do, it felt so easy, I didn't have to think about it. And these words are very specific, it felt right. You didn't think it was right. It felt right.

And so when you start to ask yourself those questions with this specific language, we're able to tap into that more resonating answer. And the feeling that the body can offer you is basically your inner compass. And so when we're talking about these trajectories that seem outside of ourselves. Well, those are just placeholders. Yes, we're deciding that. But the ultimate compass is our body. And the ultimate compass is does this feel right when you're having a conversation with somebody that you just met and you're just like, man, they're kind of I don't know, you know, versus you're like, man, there's something about that person. We just connected, and it just seems like my peoples there's a huge difference in the feeling between those two interactions. Right?

And so we're not just talking about people that we resonate with, but we're talking about experiences, we're talking about projects that you're working on and we're confirming or denying basically every single day. You're just asking yourself like, man, does this business feel right? Does this relationship feel right? Does this activity or behavior that I keep on doing over and over feel right? And then you just kind of sit with it. And the more that you actually tap in and listen to your body and feel what's going on, the easier it is for you to just know, right? So if you're not used to tapping into the intelligence and the wisdom of the body, then it's definitely a journey.

But the most important thing is to intend to connect the mind and body and eventually you're going to find yourself there and everybody's journey looks different. So that feeling is going to guide your path and that inner compass is going to direct your path and it's going to reveal your true North Star in this reality, right? So when we decide something in the future, like five years from now, or these different aspects of North Stars that seem like outside of ourselves, it's our inner compass that confirms it and is actually guiding us. But if we don't pick up a direction to go and we don't move, then we're not going to know how that journey feels, right? So when we're talking about mind body connection, that's what we're talking about. That's what we have so far. So we have a few minutes.

So for those that are joining live, if you have any questions, go ahead. And if you want to drop them in the chat, we actually have a question. What are some possible actions to take to get into a flow state on command? Okay, so there's a lot of different flow triggers and according to the Flow Research Collective, there's 22 different flow triggers. And it's not my work and it's not my place to share those, this place, but essentially it's like pointing the finger towards flow. And so when we're talking about mastery, we're talking about leveling up skill sets. And so whenever you feel like you're progressing in a journey or in life and pursuing this self mastery, it feels really good to level up and it feels really great, right? So that is one component of flow.

So practicing what do I want to master? What skills am I good at? And what skills do I want to level up? Is one of those five areas that are pointing towards the middle of flow. The next one could be autonomy, right? And so autonomy is freedom or sovereignty. So if you don't feel like you have the freedom to pursue your mastery, pursue your passions, pursue your purpose, then you are not allowing yourself to have that not only brain chemistry, but aspect of your life. Like, I don't feel free. I don't feel like I have the time to do the things that I really want to do. So the point of autonomy or sovereignty is to look at how can I become more free? How can I tap into sovereignty or autonomy more?

So look at not only the things that make you feel free, but also look at the opposite. So doing anti visions or doing anti freedom statements can be really beneficial because you're looking at, okay, what is taken away from my time? What are the things that I'm doing that make me feel constricted and not free? And so having the opposite there as a contrast allows you to then point it in the direction towards, what does autonomy mean for me and how can I use that? Okay, so Curtis says the stages discussed in this process seem that they should be organized into a cyclical agile process with a continuous feedback correction and mindful analysis. Does this accurately reflect your understanding and purpose behind this discussion? Yeah, absolutely.

We didn't have time to discuss it, but essentially feedback loops are going to allow you to have the information to confirm or deny. Right? For me, there's a lot of different ways to do it, but one of the ways or the way that I do it is daily feedback. So essentially you plan your day at night for the next day, or you can do it in the morning. You do your day's stuff, and then at the end of the night or the evening or the end of the workday, being able to reflect. And there's very specific questions that you can start to ask yourself. And if you're interested in that, I could share that with you as also part of the self mastery operating system, but it's essentially looking at the daily behaviors of what you're doing.

And then weekly is the same process, but it has a little bit different flavor. So you're actually going to be reviewing the week the past five days, and then you're actually going to start be looking at patterns. And so as you have this feedback loop mechanism, there's a way to embed your one year goals. And we didn't talk about that here either, but essentially you have your five year outcomes and one year outcomes. So once you establish your five year outcomes, you basically chunk. Your one years are going to be your chunks. And so then the projects that you work on this year are leading to your one year outcomes. And so part of your weekly feedback mechanism is to remind yourself of, what am I aiming for this year? Right at the end of the year, what am I aiming towards?

And so, again, not only your subconscious mind or your conscious mind is a tool to help remind you of what is important. These things that I say that I'm doing, am I actually doing it? And so if you continuously do things that are against what you say you want, it's going to be reflected in your feedback loop system. And so those patterns are going to some of them are going to be very obvious, and then some of them are going to be like, it's going to take a couple of weeks. And you're like, oh, s***, I can't believe I did that. I've been doing that for so long, I didn't even know I was doing it. But the point of the prompts and the feedback is to ask yourself these questions.

And as an example, one of the questions that I ask myself on a weekly basis is, what false perspective am I embracing or what false pattern can I let go of? And so essentially, it's a really hard question for me to answer. And it's like, for weeks I had to really think about it, and I'm getting better and better. But this reflection system, this feedback loop system, this pattern recognition system allows you to be informed is like, am I doing this or am I making progress towards what I'm saying, I'm making progress, and how does that feel? And so again, when we're talking about this whole process, when we feel like, yeah, that feels right, that feels pretty good, yeah. Or like, man, I just keep on having this inner friction, this existential tension within myself.

I'm like, oh man, it just doesn't feel right. I keep on hitting a brick or whatever it is. There's something there. There's some kind of wisdom there that's helping. You could be bringing clarity, but it's for us, our openness, to be able to look at it. So, Curtis, let me know if that helps. We're at the end of the hour, but I got one more question, and then we can officially close it. And if anybody wants to just stay for another 1520 minutes to ask questions, I'm cool with that too. Julio asks, how does cohesion operate with organization of energy? Okay, so what are you saying here?

Okay, the nature of what I was talking about in this whole thing, this structure, this path, this framework, all this kind of stuff, the whole idea behind it is to have enough structure to where you're not thinking about the process. And it's like whenever you're the easiest example is driving a car, right? So when you're first learning how to drive a car, you're thinking about all of these processes, all these things intertwine and how increasing the accelerator and turning the wheel and what you're looking at and body position. All this kind of stuff is, like, a lot of information and it takes a lot of time. But eventually you embody the structure of driving. And so what I'm talking about here, this framework, whatever your version of it is, you can embody the version of it that resonates with you.

And when you embody something, you don't have to think about it. And so when we're talking about cohesion and harmonization and synthesizing with your life, you're able to allow the structure to be the structure without you having to think about it, because you've rewired yourself. You've reprogrammed yourself. You've adjusted your own default that now you can dance with life. Now just imagine you have this room, this huge parthenon, kind of like structure, and you have all these columns that are just like 20ft away huge. But then when you have that, you're able to have all this huge thing with this huge structure. And now you're able to dance in there. Now you're able to move about, you're able to flow. You're able to do whatever it is that you want to do.

And so it's this balance between organization, structure and flow and dance with life. And Julio, let me know if that was what you were asking. If you have to head out, let me know how it was for you. You can share your thoughts, you can message me or you can email or whatever if you don't feel like sharing in the chat. But, yeah, for anybody that wants to continue for the next about 15 minutes, I'm happy to answer any questions. So we'll just keep going. So Antonio says if I'm hitting the roadblock consistently at something, no matter how hard I attempt to work on it, does it mean that it's ultimately not aligned with what I want? Or is it mainly down to the strategy not executed right? Or possibly both?

Yeah, so it's roadblocks and yeah, when you're thinking, when these things happen, the best practice actually I have in the self Mastery operating system, I have a whole process for this. And essentially the first thing is to use your mind, use your subconscious mind and use your body, right? And so when we're talking about the mind, one of the first steps is asking, like, can I actually just go around this roadblock? Because a lot of times roadblocks are telling us, don't go this way, right? So sometimes when we're hitting against the wall or roadblock, maybe life is telling us to go around. Maybe life is saying, hey, go down another path, and this road isn't for you for whatever reason, or this road isn't for you right now.

And that's really the only thing that can be said, is it's not for you right now. Roadblocks could also be or obstacles could also be challenges that you are intending to overcome or you're being guided to overcome. So like, if you think about a ten foot wall obstacle course kind of thing, maybe the point of this roadblock or this obstacle is to tap into your ability to be able to navigate it, overcome it, get over it, whatever it is, right? So if that's the case, then the next step is to literally look at this obstacle, look at this resistance, and look at it in the face and say, what are you trying to tell me? What are you trying to show me? Why are you here? To offer me some kind of guidance on my path?

And this definitely takes practice, but especially whenever you're mentally just like keep on hitting against the wall. And all you can think about is going through it, getting in a more calm state, taking a step back, perhaps even getting into a container where whether it's meditation or some kind of conversation with somebody that can hold space or just be there and listen to you, that you can actually be your own. You can channel your own wisdom. Right? There's a lot of different things about roadblocks and obstacles and resistance. And so that's on the mental right, or the conscious mind aspect. So then when we move to subconscious again, we're talking about subconscious priming and so we're setting the intention for our subconscious mind to bring us answer.

And a lot of times that's what happens because we may hit some kind of insight, we may like, oh, this feels like something, why this obstacle is here to help me, help show me to XYZ. And sometimes these are really difficult obstacles, sometimes these are really different roadblocks. And you move through this stuff for a long time and there's a reason for it and I couldn't tell you what it is. But as you navigate your journey and as you open yourself up to all these things, then you're able to realize within yourself like, this is why this roadblock obstacle resistance is here, and it's going to help you. So hope that helped. Let me know if any other clarity. Last thing with resistance or obstacles or roadblocks is after you. Basically.

Well, the secret with the subconscious mind is to absolutely, completely let it go and not try to do things to kind of unravel the answer, but actually let it go. Like actually going, doing something fun, actually taking a break, actually getting your mind off of it in any way that you can. So that way you say, okay, I'm just letting it go, right? And so you do that, you decide that for a period, and it could be for an hour, it could be for overnight, it could be a whole week, whatever it is, depending on how big the thing is. So it's like, stop trying to do something to overcome this roadblock.

And your intention is to allow your subconscious mind or if you believe in a higher power, to channel the higher power insight to say, bring me the answer, bring me clarity, bring me whatever I need to move forward so I can navigate this thing right. Then the last thing is, if you really need to keep moving forward is body work. And we kind of talked about this in step three, essentially embodiment, right? So right now you have a resistance in your body, you have a resistance in your life. And so as within, so without, whatever's going on in the internal world is reflected in the external world. So if you have a roadblock somewhere in your life, there's something in your body or within yourself that is holding on to that roadblock.

And oftentimes the most sticky, the most difficult, the most challenging roadblocks, obstacles, resistances are held actually within the body. And so we're talking about un-embodying that trauma, un-embodying that roadblock, literally start tapping into the wisdom of the body. And there's a lot of different practices. If you're familiar with body scan meditations, you can look that up on YouTube and essentially you're just going from head toe and you're just becoming aware of your body. And so with that body scan, and if you're following that body scan in mind and you're thinking about this resistance of this roadblock, you can actually loosely ask the question, where is this roadblock held in my body?

And then whenever you move through that and if it just so happens to be a certain area in your body, you're able to feel that area and then it might start pulsating. And there might be some sounds kind of crazy if you've never done any of this kind of stuff, but there's a lot of people that work on somatic healing and somatic practices that as you move through and work, with the body, you're able to then essentially receive what that body part or what that area is kind of telling you and then you can mentally comprehend it. Right? And so then with that mental comprehension or that mental integration, then you're able to understand why this roadblock was there as an example.

It's not always like that, but essentially you're working with your body and then there's other practices that you can do to release obstacles and stuff. But yeah, there's a lot of stuff on there, but just somatic practices and we can always chat about it later too. If anybody else has any other questions, let me know. Hope this was helpful. Okay, maybe how does this relate to the self mastery operating system? Is this kind of like the base operating layer of the self mastery operating systems? Yeah, essentially I broke down the core steps of what the self mastery operating system is navigating through and there's a lot of textures and details and you dive into it all, but essentially this is the path.

It's not the only path, but for me it felt like this was one of the easiest paths and my intention with the Self Mastery Operating System is to have this tool and through this process I'm actually guiding it through four weeks of stuff, right. These different components that I've been talking about and plus some that I haven't, I'm guiding through that process. But ultimately you get the whole thing all at once, right. And so you can actually go and explore and start filling things out or starting to seeing what wisdom like a certain area.

So it's kind of like when you read a book, there's a lot of books that are you got to read it chapter by chapter by chapter and then sometimes there's books that are both reading by chapter and you're picking out chapter seven is what I really need to hear today or whatever. So it's kind of like that. So it's available. So people that love to explore feel like they want to kind of browse or they feel like, oh yeah, this is the area that I want to explore week one or the first day or whatever it is, they can explore it. But for those that just like, hey, look, that seems overwhelming. That's a lot of stuff. I just want to take it chunk by chunk by chunk. But yeah.

So these three different steps that I've talked about today are essentially allowing somebody to move through this journey. And the tool, the mechanism is simply that the whole idea is that you're not supposed to live in this tool. You're not supposed to live in the app or anything like that. It's just that constant reminder, that constant thing of again, priming your subconscious in some ways keeping you accountable. And then the group dynamic is a lot more accountability, a lot more connection, a lot of human dynamic and stuff like that. Antonio says is it possible to get the recording? Yeah, absolutely. I'll send it out. If anybody else has any more questions, happy to answer. Appreciate your guys' attention. I hope it was valuable, hope it sparked something or hope it at least gave you some ideas.

I know it's a lot of stuff, but I wanted to pack in as much as I could. And again, whatever felt resonating, take it. Whatever you felt like you want to remix, take it. Yeah, that's it.
