That Which Is Seeking You

I woke up at 3:30am a few mornings ago with Peru moving through me.
What the trip could look like. What we'd do. How we'd do it. Idea after idea, all the possibilities.
It felt like capturing golden lightning. You do your best to catch it as it comes.
The best part was that every idea was something I could act on. I could work with it. I could mold it in my hands.
That's the thrill for me. Take the ideas, give them an architecture, then act on them.
My mornings are a playground of nourishment (generally speaking lol). I feel into what's moving through me and I capture it. Some mornings I go back to sleep after. Some mornings I'm up for the day and building.
People ask me some version of the same question. How do I find something with so much excitement in it that I'm jumping out of bed in the morning?
There are a hundred answers about mornings. I'd rather look at the question.
It usually arrives sounding something like this. I'm "trying" to find my thing. I think I "need" to figure out my passion first. I "have to" sort this out before I can do that.
Trying. Need. Have to.
Those words lock us into a way of being.
You choose Aliveness. You say, "Yes, this is what I'm choosing. This is my intention." Then you take a step toward it.
What's in the way often starts to show itself as a byproduct of that decision. The belief that you have to do X, Y and Z first. The old pattern that's ready to be let go of. They surface on their own, because you're moving.
You decide, then you navigate the rest along the way.
Deciding has its own rhythm.
Sometimes you decide something and it feels like a full 100 percent. A couple of hours later it feels a little wishy-washy. You take a step back. You hesitate. Self-doubt creeps in.
That's part of the dance.
Incremental decisiveness is deciding as fully as you can in this moment, acting on it, then letting the next level of the decision arrive through the doing. Whatever decisiveness you can muster today, you use. Then you keep embodying the next level of it.
A couple of weeks ago I started a five-day dry fast. That's five days without food or water.
On day one my decisiveness sounded like, "Yeah, I'll go three or four or five days." Then I read a book about dry fasting and something settled. Five days, and that's final.
I did five days exactly.
(Not health advice, by the way. Don't dry-fast because a guy in a newsletter did. I'm nobody's doctor.)
There's a felt sense when someone has decided. There's no question they're going to do the thing. You can see it in small cues. It's in their language. It's in how they take action. It's in tiny things that become visible once you're aware of them.
Decisiveness is one part of the dance. Being open is another. So is being receptive, receiving from life as it comes. You'll have clarity with some steps and uncertainty with others. That's part of the journey too.
That which we want. That which is seeking us.
Sometimes the next level of decisiveness arrives in a conversation.
In case you didn't know, I work one on one as an advisor to entrepreneurs and business owners. Right now I have room for one more person.
If you've been on the fence about your next move or wanting to decide in a more alive way, a call can help you get clear on the next step or two that have been eluding you.
It starts with an advisory call. You bring what's live for you. You leave with a clear read of where you are and a direction you can act on that week.
If it feels like a fit for both of us, we look at going the distance together.

Some mornings the golden lightning shows up at 3:30am.
