The Key to Joyful Sovereignty is Gratitude

My Intention

For this 2nd edition of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly, my intention is to provide a keystone principle and action to help you arrive to the feeling of Joyful Sovereignty on a consistent basis.

Much of the world feels the social media bombardment, the news cycle, notifications every 2 minutes yanking their attention on an hourly basis.

This overstimulation often creates a feeling of lack of control. The intention of these social media platforms and media companies don’t have the best interest in our lives (most likely).

Even the content creation world is declaring “attention” is the new oil. Meaning that content creators that harness the power of capturing attention, they can strategically cash in (like oil barons did in the past).

Nothing wrong with capturing peoples attention, but YOU always have a choice on what to put your attention on.

By becoming aware of how you energize your attention, you begin to harness your own internal power.

There is a solution, read further.

Joyful Sovereignty

In the previous edition of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly, we discussed about how this trajectory can guide us in a meaningful and authentic way.

Why is this trajectory (focus) so important?

You’ve probably seen one of those movies showing a person with a mirror in front of them and a mirror behind them.

You can see the cascading reflection of the person, both in front of them and behind.

They raise their right hand in the present moment, the mirror in front and the mirror behind them reflects that.

What they do in the active present moment is reflected in the static mirrors.

Imagine the front mirror represents the future.

The mirror behind them represents the past.

You can see how who you are and what you do in the present moment is reflected in both the past and future.

Let’s go back to the trajectory of Joyful Sovereignty.

If in this present moment you focus on joy and sovereignty, when you look back at the past, you can find truth reflected that can be advantageous to you in the Now.

Because you’re focused on Joyful Sovereignty in this moment.

When you look to a probable future, you can receive ideas to act upon to live an even more joyful and sovereign life.

The moment you “try” to correct something or fight against something else, you pull yourself further from your intended focus.

You only get more of “trying” or “fighting against”.

Placing your attention on Joyful Sovereignty has a profound effect on your probable future (and how you view your past).

The Breadth of Joy

Many believe life is either good or bad. No in between.

“I’m either Joyful, or I’m not.”

“I’m either Sovereign, or I’m not.”

This black and white thinking makes it easy to live in worry, stress and judgement.

Yes, there are extremes on this spectrum.

Ultimate joy and depressive lethargy.

Ultimate sovereignty and controlled oppression.

Almost all of us are somewhere in the middle.

But here’s the thing. Even though there is this full spectrum, most only welcome the “good” side of the spectrum.

The inspiring, the wonderful, the amazing, the incredible, the synchronistic, the good stuff.

Those are all great things we want in life. Yet, it’s only half of life.

There is another side of the spectrum that is often neglected.

The challenging, the heavy, the dense, the hard, the difficult.

Most avoid this side.

Most neglect the wisdom of this side.

Many are adamantly against this side.

This side brings about a powerful tool for you, contrast.

How do you know what resonates with you or not? Often times the feeling of “that don’t feel right”. It’s the contrast.

It’s the opposite of what you want.

Every have a leader who you know you don’t want to be like?

They are the contrast to point you in the right direction FOR YOU. No judgement on them, their expressed leadership that doesn’t resonate with you is a gift.

An absolute gift.

For those who half-heartedly embrace this contrasting side, only do so to a degree. Often it’s only embraced on the mental aspect.

Trust me, I’ve been there. And I continue to move that “knowing” from my head to my heart.

Accepting there is a spectrum and embracing the wisdom of all of it. That is the journey of enjoying the fullness of life.

Moving forward in life now, you see the pain, triggers, friction and suffering as your direct path to your own liberation.

Let’s look at something.

Here is a spectrum of Joy. The left side the “bad stuff” like hard and challenging times. The right side the “good stuff” like inspiration and synchronicities.

Just as a thought experiment, where do you believe your life falls on this spectrum as a whole?

Place an imaginary dot where you think it is.

Hold that answer in your mind. For the sake of simple demonstration purposes, let’s say “Person A” is feeling their life is at a +6 on this spectrum.

They feel joyful about a lot of things, but there’s also a lot for them to embrace.

The more “Person A” embraces the wisdom in challenging and hard times, the more they loosen the already existing joy within.

Realizing there is a spectrum, the good and bad become less defined. They become more blurred, because you see that life in its entirety, is supporting you in powerful and profound ways.

You not only harmonize the “black and white”, but see it in full color.

Take a look below.

All of life becomes the “good stuff”.

Life is enjoyed to greater heights more each day.

The Depth of Sovereignty

Sovereignty has many facets. There are many aspects that give deep meaning for all of us as humans.

The ability to utilize our free will to decide our intentions and where we place our attention.

The feeling of having agency in our own lives. The “knowing” that We The People can choose our own fate in each moment.

There is also a shadow side of it too.

Many can go overly against the current “system” and gain “extreme” freedom.

Perhaps that’s their journey, yet when you go against something, you keep it alive to a degree.

In later editions of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly, we will dive deeper into how powerful our spoken word is and how it creates our life as we speak.

Let’s look at another spectrum.

Where do you land on this spectrum of feeling Sovereignty in your daily life?

Again, let’s use “Person A” as an example. When they truly sit with themselves and their life, they actually feel they land on a -2.

They actually feel sad that they don’t find themselves higher on this spectrum.

That’s totally okay, because everyone is exactly where they are.

The point of this is to honestly assess where you’re at. No judgement.

Only when we’re honest with ourselves and where we’re at, can we make some significant moves forward.

With all the aspects of Sovereignty, we will focus on a Sovereign mind and body.

To free your mind of programming and to liberate your body to expand the capacity to hold more joy and sovereignty in a sustainable and continuous way.

Speaking of the body, it is the holder for our next insight.

Joyful Sovereignty is a Feeling

As much as we want to understand Joyful Sovereignty from the mental perspective, the deeper truth is that it’s actually a feeling.

The mind can try to describe it, but the feeling will always be foundational.

Feelings occur IN the body.

Our understanding helps us integrate the mind and body to exist in harmony.

Moving forward on this journey, we are harmonizing the mental intention of becoming more joyful and more sovereign, with the feeling of joyfulness and sovereignty in the body.

We can practice and teach ourselves to have the feelings of Joyfulness and Sovereignty. This happens by directing our attention and awareness on the Present Moment.

Being Present helps the nervous system feel safe.

We won’t go too deep into the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, but essentially, we are tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system to calm and relax ourselves.

Activating your parasympathetic nervous system sends blood and resources to our recovery systems of our body like reproduction, immunity, sleep and digestion.

Becoming fully seated into joy and sovereignty is a byproduct.

One simple way to tap into the healing effects of the parasympathetic nervous system is to take a deep breath in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 4 seconds. Then very slowly breath out for 6 or more seconds.

As you exhale, loosen your body and release any tension.

When you practice this, you may notice that your awareness is distributed from one place (such as in your head) to your entire body.

This is healing because it lessens the load your mind has. Decreasing mental stress and worry.

From a biological perspective, this puts your body into restoration mode, making you feel safe.

When our nervous system feels safe, WE feel safe.

When we feel safe, we can open ourselves up to higher states of being.

Such as Joyfulness and Sovereignty.

If this information is completely new to you, don’t worry about understanding it all.

All of this is meant to plant a seed of understanding how your mind and body are interconnected so deeply. And how it is connected to our journey towards Joyful Sovereignty.

It is also intended to share some more of the science behind this message.

Gratitude is the Key

Instead of placing our attention towards the external world and all the seemingly growing chaos, we direct our focus on something simple.

Gratitude.

We do this for the simple reason that we gain control in our lives again.

We decide what we focus on, what is happening in OUR world and being grateful for it.

Just by controlling our attention more, we expand our capacity to observe joyfulness and sovereignty in our life, as well as feel it more in our bodies.

That’s just the start of it, because gratitude is so powerful.

When you become grateful for the “good stuff” in your life, you get more “good stuff”.

When you become grateful for the “bad stuff” in your life, you get less “bad stuff”, because you don’t really view it as bad stuff anymore. You realize these experiences are actually useful to you.

Being grateful for the challenging times is what amplifies your capacity to feel Joyful Sovereignty.

As we shared in the beginning of this article, most people AREN’T embracing the “bad stuff”.

Here’s another side effect of being grateful for the hard stuff. You actually can enjoy the “good stuff” on a deeper level.

Know anyone who can’t seem to celebrate even the huge wins in life? They brush it off as just a regular day.

This practice of gratitude expands your capacity to feel all of it fully. Yes, the challenging times can feel uncomfortable in the beginning. With time, your perceptive shifts to something more useful to you.

Check out this image.

Over time, your natural state of being is more Joyful and more Sovereign. This image isn’t exactly accurate, as the journey isn’t linear.

However, bringing a certain visual can help integrate with our mind.

The point is, the more grateful you are on a daily basis, the further you move along this path.

We know gratitude intuitively feels great, but there is a lot of science backing it up too.

Very soon, I’ll be releasing my Gamified Gratitude System to you. You can download it for free.

This is unlike any other gratitude systems out there, because it helps you implement it into your daily life with ease.

Over time, it literally re-wires your brain for gratitude. Eventually, you won’t have to think about being grateful for stuff.

YOU JUST ARE.

In this system, I’ll share some of the science behind it.

I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready, which is VERY soon.

Gratitude As A Question

Simply being grateful is a powerful approach. Adding gratitude as a question expands the Gratitude Toolkit at your disposal.

“How can I be more grateful for the challenging moments?” or a variation of this can be incredibly powerful.

“Is it possible that what I was taught of my capacity of being grateful, is actually a huge underestimation?”

The point isn’t to prove this question right, but to be open to the answer that is revealed.

Playfully ask yourself these questions and see what emerges.

Asking ourselves powerful questions automatically brings our subconscious mind into play. Your subconscious mind places a detective hat on and becomes a trusted ally to help you find the best answer.

Powerful answers that reveal itself after asking these kinds of questions calm the mind and the nervous system. Putting yourself into a state of relaxation and healing.

Thus, making room for the capacity to feel Joyful Sovereignty on a deeper and more profound level.

It’s all connected.

Action Steps

Allow any new concepts or perspectives that were shared to be “worked on” by your subconscious mind over the coming days.

Beautiful answers and understanding will reveal itself in the most “random” moments.

In the meantime, if you want to take some action based on what you read today, let’s dive in.

  1. Ask yourself the following questions: “How can I be more grateful for the challenging moments?” and “Is it possible that what I was taught of my capacity of being grateful, is actually a huge underestimation?”
  2. Be grateful for 1 thing at the end of each day. Go out of your way to be consistent each day for the next 5 days. See what it feels like. Is it hard? Is it easy? How much internal noise and resistance occurs? How do you feel after you do it?
  3. Share gratitude with someone every day for the next 5 days. Can be a simple text or call. A message or quick note. Every day, don’t make it a “vanilla gratitude”, make it specific and juicy.

If you take action and want to share, reply back to this email! I’d love to hear what happens for you!

That’s it for this edition of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly!

Wish you a great rest of your day!

Best,

Lane
