The People, Process and Trajectory to Change the World

My Intention

For this 10th edition of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly, my intention is to share a vision of how humanity can support each other moving forward over the next decade.

When I first drafted this, I was very hesitant.

I felt like I don’t have enough clarity to articulate what I feel.

But here it goes anyways.

This is what I see as the current vision. It will be updated with more conversations with people. One of my abilities is to bring in many different perspectives and harmonize them into a coherent vision.

The events in my life have all lead me up until this moment of clarity.

Tomorrow will bring more clarity.

There are a lot of systems out in the world that are trying to do good.

Many systems are failing because it lacks the ability to scale. Once an organization or system becomes big enough, it loses its ability to be nimble.

In this day and age, change is a constant.

We need an ability to adapt as the changing world evolves.

As I have synthesized what I’ve done and my unfolding message, here is the clarity I have.

Family leaders who navigate Self-Mastery and point that towards their own version Joyful Sovereignty, will change the world.

Why Family Leaders

It is family leaders who can remain nimble to calibrate to the latest happenings in the world.

First, let’s talk about what I mean by Family Leaders.

To be honest, I don’t have an official definition. It’s actually been hard for me to articulate this.

I can sense and feel what it is, but explaining it well has alluded me.

A family leader is the person in their immediate family who everyone else looks to for guidance.

They may not have all the answers, but they are grounded and calm to help everyone work through it and the solution emerges.

A family leader is usually the person in the family most interested in personal development.

A family leader is the kind of person the family can rely on.

A family leader leads by example.

A family leader is definitely NOT perfect. They are simply doing their best.

A family leader can be anyone in the family. It is a self-selected state of being.

All one has to do is decide.

The intention isn’t to lead for the sake of leading, but to be of service to their family, community and the world if need be.

It isn’t an incredibly noble thing to do.

It’s simply caring for those around you.

We the people will change the world, not elected officials and systems. It’ll be real life humans that care for each other that will change the world.

Here’s the alternative:

You vote for people who don’t have the peoples true interest in mind.

Those people who you vote for, fight, bicker and name call as if they are elderly teenagers with a chip on their shoulders.

Rarely being able to find compromise.

Eventually, they are able to create laws for the people to follow.

Even then, there is resistance. Because what the people at the top focus on doesn’t always resonate with the people.

It kind of reminds me of the fisherman's parable.

A successful business man visits a small fishing village and talks with a local. The local is fishing, relaxing and enjoying life.

The business man asks him what his life looks like. The local says he wakes up late, next to his family. He goes fishing for a few hours. He returns and dances, sings and enjoys his evenings with his family.

The business man with his eyes of opportunity, look around and see how the local could turn his fishing into an enterprise.

The local asks him what that might look like.

The business man says he could expand to multiple boats, catching more fish. Eventually, creating a supply chain that could reach multiple countries.

The business man says he would have to sacrifice some of his free time with his family. But he assured him it would be worth it.

The fisherman asked him how long something like this would take.

"10-15 years most likely", says the business man.

"Then what?" Asks the fisherman.

"Then you can sell your company, become a millionaire and relax on the beach somewhere."

Seems like a lot of work to get to where you wanna go.

This parable is similar to the alternative.

Instead of voting for someone, who then makes a law, that then needs to be structured and enforced, and then needs to be followed, all to live a good life and take care of each other. We can work on our own self, family and communities and arrive there.

If millions of Family Leaders did that, change could happen fairly quickly.

Before we move on, I want to make sure something is clear. I am for Family Leaders rising up, absolutely.

Systems, organizations and institutions have their place.

We don’t need to disassemble any and all systems..

As Family Leaders empower themselves and their families, all that other stuff will work itself out.

Our focus is on empowering Family Leaders, period.

Family Leaders are the people.

Why Self-Mastery

Ever meet someone who advocates for one of the world’s problems. But when you look at their life, they’re not even doing what they can do in their own personal lives?

They’re trying to change the world outside of themselves before they change what’s within.

Self-Mastery is looking inward and doing the work needed to better your own life.

As you do that, the outer world begins to work itself out. At least your immediate outer world.

The journey of Self-Mastery isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes courage, grit and resilience to navigate some of the most difficult challenges.

But through that navigation, it leads you to great reward.

Self-Mastery has been spoken much in the previous editions of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly, so we won’t dig too deep for this edition.

However, the thing to emphasize is as you master yourself, you can elevate all those around you in a meaningful way. Helping others is the byproduct, not the main effort.

That might sound counterintuitive.

Aren’t was supposed to help others?

Absolutely.

But we do that by BEING ourselves.

If we don’t know who we are, what we like, what we’re good at; then how are we supposed to be ourselves?

That is the path of Self-Mastery, to remember.

As we remember who we are and able to express our authentic self, we automatically help people as the second and third order effect.

We don’t have to “try” to help others.

We don’t have to go out of our way to help others.

We don’t have to worry about people paying us back for helping.

We are simply ourselves and that’s it.

We are satisfied with ourselves.

Yes, it doesn’t always feel that way, but that’s part of the journey too.

We can’t expect to change the world if we can’t change ourselves.

The cool thing about Self-Mastery? When you do the full spectrum work, you can then support others when they decide to join the Self-Mastery journey for themselves.

You won’t convince anyone, they will decide on their own.

Sure, your example and radiance may have an influence. Especially if it’s someone in your family or community.

But they will ultimately decide for themselves.

Self-Mastery is the process.

Why Joyful Sovereignty

Part of being human is to do stuff. When we’re doing stuff, we’re going somewhere.

We’re pressing forward on a path.

Being present and navigating the process is most important. But we’re going somewhere regardless.

When I first began talking about Joyful Sovereignty, it felt like it was THE answer.

But now I realize it’s PART of the answer. It’s the direction we can decide to move towards.

We all have the free will to decide whatever path we want, and I’m choosing Joyful Sovereignty.

Who doesn’t want to live a life of joy and sovereignty (freedom)?

When we aim to feel Joyful Sovereignty in the moment, it will be reflected in subsequent present moments (the future).

Tiny little chunks of joyfulness and sovereignty baked into each moment. Building momentum and feeling it more and more each day.

As long as you hold your intentions and act upon them, you will arrive at a beautiful state of being. It’ll be both the present moment, and the trajectory at the same time.

The essence of your approach is folded within the result.

Joyful Sovereignty is the trajectory.

Harmonizing Humanity and Technology

As we move forward, there will be opportunities to allow emerging technology to support us.

AI can play a potent role in our Self-Mastery process and subtle azimuth checks on our trajectory.

There is much to discuss on this topic, but the core of what I’d like to share in this moment is how AI can support in a way our subconscious mind does.

AI algorithms are powerful in organizing, consolidating and processing information.

Our subconscious mind is immensely powerful in doing those same things. For us as humans, it will be even more important to be present in the moment and have clear intentions on what kinds of experiences we’d like to have.

Having something like a personal AI would be helpful to extract goals, clarify purpose and give you feedback on your priorities.

Instead of Alexa playing your favorite songs, you can have a voice activated AI help you on your journey to Self-Mastery.

This process will likely increase your creativity. Allowing you to focus on more creative projects that are fun, expressive and thought provoking.

I know this may sound way in the future, but it’s coming faster than we probably will think.

I am already testing out a voice activated AI tool and speaking with a few founders that are working on similar technologies.

Being collaborative and supportive of these efforts will be especially key.

Some people will have skills and gifts that will lend to certain parts of this effort. While others will support in completely different ways.

For me personally, I am pro-organic intelligence.

I see AI and other technologies supporting us in our journey as humanity.

I believe we can live in harmony, but it will take a deep level of intentionality.

I am ready to explore where this goes.

This age of humanity is offering us to play a different kind of game of life.

It’s a time where we can choose and be intentional about the rules, how to play and most importantly, who we play with.

There will be many different variations, we will all find our tribes. We will all be ourselves, play the game of life we desire and support each other along the way.

We will be flexible and appreciate the differences we all have.

By us playing the kind of infinite game that feels resonate, others will be inspired to empower themselves and explore what game they’d like to play.

Let’s see how it unfolds.

Action Steps

I know this is a little different message than previous editions of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly. This weeks action step is a call to action for those who want to start a dialog about this topic.

I have opened up my schedule to talk with people about this.

If you are curious or interested, I invite you to click this link and setup a time to chat with me.

During our call, we will see where the conversation goes. I will share more in depth on this topic. You can ask any questions you want.

It also helps me greatly. Because the more people with different backgrounds and perspectives I talk with, the more holistic and well-rounded view I can develop.

Win-win.

Well, that’s it for this edition of the Joyful Sovereignty Weekly!

Wish you a great rest of your day!

Best,

Lane
